A couple of days ago, I got to make a day trip to Magnolia Market in Waco, TX. I’d been once before (back in September), but it was to the “little shop on Bosque”, just before the new place opened. Oh, and if you’re not sure what Magnolia Market is, it’s Chip and Joanna Gaines (of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper”) store in Waco, TX. I can’t believe there’s anyone who wouldn’t know who they are, but I guess there’s some unfortunate soul out there. Ha!
It was raining when we made the trip (what? Texas with rain? Only for a solid month now….and I’m only half-complaining, because it’s a lot better than a five year drought…or was it seven? Anyway…). I went with two of my sisters-in-law, and we had a lot of fun. It was impressive from the moment we walked up. An employee met us down on the sidewalk, handed us a big umbrella and offered to take our picture with the shop in the background. He told us to keep the umbrella until we made it to the front doors of the building (excellent customer service).
And then…I walked inside the front doors and heard angels singing and the sun broke through the clouds! 🙂 🙂 It’s like an oversized Anthropologie that only sells home decor! And we know I love Anthro! So, I thought I’d share a few pics (even though they’re all iPhone pics) and let you see a little of it. It’s a good thing I don’t live closer; I’d be broke for sure!
Can you tell we were happy to be there? My sisters-in-law may have just been really happy to be out of the SUV, driving in torrential rains and listening to me call on the Name of Jesus every 5 seconds. 😉
Most of you have probably seen a picture of this fireplace and wall, but I took a (horrible) pic anyway.
This is a shot of some of the first floor. I couldn’t get the whole room on my phone.
The next few are details on the first floor. How cute is this Tulip Bar?
I may or may not have come home with a few items in the above pictures. 😉
And excuse me as I was a hot mess by this time (the humidity was horrid), but I did meet Jimmy Don so I had to take a pic!
The photos below are pics of the lower floor you step down into. You can see there was not a huge crowd. I’m guessing because it was a Thursday, and all the rain has caused massive flooding in the state.
Detail pics below on 2nd floor.
This “Demo Day’ area was suitable gifts for men. It was a cute space.
I even had to take a few pics in the bathroom (while someone was knocking trying to get in). But pictures are important, right?
I know, I know, dirty floor, but I love this kind of tile…
Moving on to outdoors…
I think it’s pretty amazing that they have this area just for people to hang out and “play”. And there’s not too many places you’ll go (I can’t think of another) that people are just playing outdoors and Christian music (alternating with old jazz) is blaring over the sound system.
There’s also food trucks surrounding this area. We didn’t get anything…we had eaten before we got there, but I think the only truck open was Common Grounds. Probably due to the rain.
Next is the garden area, where there’s a separate little store (just like the old place on Bosque had).
Cute little fairy gardens!
Inside the seed shop.
They even have two little goats right there downtown.
And leaving the main store as you check out…
I hope you enjoyed my little tour….My husband and I have often talked about what makes Chip and Jo so successful. I think  first, it comes down to their dedication to God, the fact that their show/life reminds us of a simpler time, and the fact that they are family-focused, and just plain genuine. I think America is searching for “genuine”. And they’ve found it here amongst a shop with shiplap, flowers, vases, measuring spoons, wooden signs…… and goats.
Happy Saturday, everyone!
