Well, I know some of you are anxiously awaiting pictures of the finished house. If you read my last post, you’ll know that Hubby started painting the brick and trim on our house. It’s not completely finished, but I couldn’t wait any longer to post some “after” pics! We are SO happy with the results and so glad we finally made the hard decision to paint the bricks.
Here’s a BEFORE pic:
And here’s an AFTER!
(Please excuse our yard. If you’re not from around here, you wouldn’t know that we are in one of our worst droughts in history. We are on watering restrictions. This is the second set of shrubs we have lost! They just can’t make it being unestablished with it being so hot and not enough water. Hopefully the third time will be a charm?? :/
Pictures really don’t do this justice! We have had SO many compliments from our neighbors and friends. (It was a little bright out when I took these pictures, but you gotta do it while the babies are napping!) The house is not completely finished….the trim has to be finished and then we’ll decide if the painted arches around the door, etc., need to go all the way to the concrete (painting an accent on the arches and the fireplace was Hubby’s idea. I really like it). What do you think? Like they are or painted to the ground?
Next on the list after the painting is completely done is to add wooden planter boxes under the windows (you can see there’s brick there to hold them), and shutters on the sides of the windows. Hubby has been researching exactly what kind of shutters were put on houses during the 1920’s. I keep telling him we’re going to get this all finished and LOVE it (more than we already do), and then have to move. It’s not a tiny house, but not quite the layout/size we want as a forever house for our family of four. Especially the yard…. 🙁
Oh well…we’ll cross that bridge in a few years….
Til the next time,
the girl who does a double take to make sure she’s at the right house when she pulls in the drive 🙂
