….That is always the question. It’s always my idea, always Hubby’s question. In this case, Hubby asked for some advice and decided to go ahead and paint. YAY!! And I really saved him a lot of money, y’all. I’m good like that (wink).
When we first got our kitchen (ahem) mostly finished (and that’s still the current state), we bought some plain jane counter stools from Pier 1 for our peninsula. They weren’t what I wanted, but like a lot of things, I settled until we could find what I really wanted. It took me awhile, but I decided on this:
The Tolix brand. You’ve seen these and the knock-offs everywhere now.
But, in sticking with my reputation, what I wanted was way too expensive. And of course, I have to be different, so I wanted a colored chair. But nearly $1000.00 is not a price we were willing to pay per chair!
I searched and searched and found one place where I could get what I wanted in a knock-off, but it would still be about $700.00 for both. So, I decided to go with this similar style. Hubby was already painting them before I could snap a picture, but ours were like these, only a bronze finish. They were actually very pretty like they were and we contemplated leaving them. But in the end, I really wanted something different; something that would “pop” in the kitchen.
I chose Valspar’s “Golden Flame” and I’m SO happy with how they turned out!
(And I think this is the first time I’ve shown this much of our kitchen on the blog!)
Now, the question to paint came into play because Hubby was worried about painting galvanized metal. He did find out about a new primer with a “bonding agent” and was assured the paint would not chip off. So, we are waiting to see how they wear for a little bit, and then we’ve got 2 metal toddler beds to paint if we have good results.
Oh – and the best part – we got these chairs for $170.00 for the set, and spent about $30 on paint. Not bad. 🙂
til the next time,
kassie
